Michael Kors was born in1959 in Long Island, New York. The mother, Joan Krystosek Kors, was a model. This is why the young Michael approaches fashion. His talent is so precocious that, at the age of five, he designs the dress of his mother’s second marriage.
After leaving his studies at the Fashion Intistute of Technology in 1977, Michael Kors worked as a sales assistant, buyer and dispaly director for Lothar’s Boutique in New York. His first collection, launched in 1981, consisted of only 16 pieces, all in black and brown.
Most noted for his practical, minimalist approch in neutral colors, he took its in which derive their inspiration from early Claire McCardell designs. He introduced his less expensive line, KORS, in 1990 while continuing to freelance for various companies includig Erreuno J. and Lyle and Scott. After that, he was appointed head designer for Celine in 1998.
In 2017 he reveals Jimmy Choo for 1.2 billion dollars and the following year also he buy the Versace company (it is rumored for 2 billion dollars). The turnover of the brand estimated by analysts for 2018 is a good 4.37 billion dollars. Kors personal fortune? In 2014 Forbes was talking about over a billion dollars…
